What we really need, is not cash, but compassion. As time goes on, love, mutual understanding and the opportunity to share experiences with others is what will raise the standard of living.
This is the year to make a disciplined effort to be conscious of, not only our actions, but our emotions. In this long term practice, we must be disciplined and aware of our emotional and spiritual state of being.
Why do we hesitate to invest in spiritual growth? We will pay infinite amounts of money on an iPhone, a new car, or a fancy dinner, but when it comes to feeding our soul and spirit, we double think the investment on taking a spiritual course or participating in a retreat, or yoga class.
In groups of humanity we play our parts in a symphony that produces the harmonic resonance of one state of being. Some sing high, some sing low, and harmony is created in between.
We definitely need to practice what we preach and serve as individual examples. The broader and more hopeful solution goes well beyond the individual, however. Group action will be the force to move good ideas forward.
